Jack Futch Johnson, 71, of Cherokee Road, Asheville, died Sunday, January 20, 2002. Mr. Johnson was born in Lowndes County, GA, and was a son of the late Thomas and Sally Futch Johnson. He was retired from the US Marine Corps and had owned and operated Johnson’s Bookkeeping and Accounting Service for the past 26 years. Surviving are his wife, Barbara D. Johnson; seven children, Gale Crim of Alabama, Joe O’Banion of Maryland, Betty Rose Becton of Georgia, Jasper O’Banion of Alabama, Sally Martin and Deborah King of Candler, and Linda Hoyle of Virginia; nineteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and three sisters, Ruth Vidrine, Navada Lynggard, and Betty Hewitt. Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon Wednesday in the chapel of the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with the Rev. Joe O’Banion officiating. The Buncombe County Veterans Council Memorial Team will provide military honors. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is in charge of the arrangements.
