Paul Martin Jones

Paul Martin Jones, 72, of 672 Sand Hill Road, Asheville, died unexpectedly Tuesday, January 8, 2002, in Pompano Beach, FL. Mr. Jones was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late James Paul and Nellie Butler Jones. He was a 1947 graduate of Biltmore High School and attended UNC-Chapel Hill, Asheville-Biltmore College, and NC State University. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and retired in 1985 after 27 years with E.I. DuPont in Brevard. He is survived by his wife, Mary Sue Coleman Jones; three sons and daughters-in-law, Leslie and Valerie Jones of Clinton, SC, Larry and Sue Jones of Henderson, TX, and Karl and Gina Jones of Boynton Beach, GL; six grandchildren, Miles and Martin Jones of Henderson, TX, and Stewart, Emilie, Elliott, and Mary Elise of Clinton; one brother, William Cecil Jones of Marshall, NC; five sisters, Juanita Holcombe, Shelby Stines, and Linda Waycaster of Candler, NC, Natalie Meece of Arden, NC, and Doris Ann Haney of Asheville. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Douglas B. Tilley officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. His family will receive friends from 6 - 7:30 pm Friday at the funeral home and request that memorials be made to Malvern Hills Presbyterian Church, 2 Bear Creek Road, Asheville, NC 28806 or to Thornwell Home and School for Children, PO Box 60, Clinton, SC 29325.
