Leicester, NC ~ Thomas Nathaniel Brown, of Mustang Drive, Leicester passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at his residence. He was born December 14, 1927 in Buncombe County, NC and was the son of the late J. P. and Maude Anne Wingate Brown, and was preceded in death by his wife Betty Jean Byerly Brown in 1995 and a brother, Lawrence Brown. He retired from the US Air force as an aircraft mechanic and worked for the US Postal Service for many years in Belleville, Illinois. He retired back to the Asheville, NC area in August of 2000. He is survived by three daughters, Mary Ann Stanberry and husband Chuck of Hendersonville, Carolyn Jean Melton and Judy Ahle both of Leicester; son, John Kenneth Brown of St. Louis, Mo; five grandchildren, John, Tana, Jeremy, Jamie and Ashley and six great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 7:00 P.M. Wednesday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home East Asheville on Tunnel Road. The family will receive friends following the service. A funeral and graveside service will be held on Saturday in Belleville, Illinois under the direction of Pete Gaerdner Funeral Home.
