Asheville Butterfly TrailA native of Henderson County, he lived most of his life in Buncombe County. He was son of the late Elmer and Lilly Gregg Harris. Mr. Harris retired from Ballard’s Appliance with twenty-eight years of service and was an active member of Sunny View Baptist Church.
Surviving is the wife, Betty Searcy Harris; two daughters, Sherry Lynn Hare and Debra Louise Owen, both of Arden; two sons, Rev. Rick Harris and Randy Lee Harris, both of Arden; one sister, Zora Putnam of Leicester; three brothers, Johnny Harris of Fletcher, Frank Gregg of Hendersonville and Clifford Gregg of Georgia; thirteen grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.
Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Sunny View Baptist Church with the Revs. Don Hare and Rick Harris officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian where Mr. Harris will remain until placed in the church thirty minutes before the service.
