EDNA RICKMAN LYLE
Edna Rickman Lyle, 79, died Friday, October 26, 2001, at her home on Sulphur Springs Road, Asheville, after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Lyle was born in Transylvania County on April 15, 1922, and was the daughter of the late A.C. and Pearl Rickman. She spent most of her life in Buncombe County where she was employed with the F.W. Woolworth Co. for 40 years. She traveled for Woolworths for 25 years and was a supervisor over the food department for the remaining years. She was a member of the Asheville Wesleyan Church.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Lionel, and by five brothers, Dr. Claude Rickman and his wife Evelyn of Central, SC, Sidney Rickman and his wife Mamie of Marion, IN, Carroll Rickman and his wife Faye of Asheville, Donald Rickman and his wife Sandra of Asheville, and Charles Rickman and his wife Dolores of Katy, TX; and one sister, Helen Tweed of Asheville; one brother-in-law Don Lyle and his wife Leila of Asheville and one sister-in-law, Sarah Faye Christopher and her husband Jack of Asheville.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Glenn Weaver officiating. Burial will be at Green Hills Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Sunday at the funeral home and at other times will be at the home of Helen Tweed, 243 1/2 Sulphur Springs Road.
