Jimmie Faye Metcalf

Mrs. Metcalf was born in Vardaman, MS and lived in the Asheville area for 43 years where she worked for Dr. Edward Isbey until her retirement in 1993. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob Monroe and Ollie Dee Dunn Lester and by her husband, William Wayne Metcalf, Sr. She was a member of New Morgan Hill Baptist Church in Candler for 35 years until moving to Tupelo where she attended Open Door Baptist Church.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Deryl Brendle of Tupelo; three sons, Wayne Metcalf and his wife Brenda of Weaverville, Mark Metcalf of Asheville, and Barry Metcalf and his wife Karen of Tupelo; one sister Gail Griffin of Houston, MS; one brother Ottis Lester of Fort Worth, TX; five grandchildren, Melinda and Tony Wayne Gregory of Tupelo, Tara and Tommy Pressley of Candler, and David, Nathan, and Jacob Metcalf of Weaverville; and four great-grandchildren, Marcus and Jamie Gregory of Tupelo and Jacob and Nickie Pressley of Candler.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Roy Houston officiating. Burial will follow at Forks of Ivy Baptist Church Cemetery near Mars Hill.

Her family will receive friends from 5 - 9 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
