MARY R. WEBB LEICESTER – Mary Rathbone Webb, 99, died Tuesday, March 29, 2011. A native of Haywood County, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Marvin Webb, sons Ray, Roy and Wiley Webb, and daughters Shirley Webb and Nelia Meadows. Mrs. Webb was the oldest member of South Turkey Creek Baptist Church. She is survived by her sons, William "Bud" Webb of Asheville, Jim Webb and wife Linda, of Leicester, Jerry Webb of Asheville, and Fred Webb and wife, Lavonne, of Horse Shoe; a brother, Mark Rathbone of Clyde; 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Phillip Freeman officiating. Private interment will be at South Turkey Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
