Inez Powell Merrimon

Born in Haywood County to the late Eva Edgerton Powell and Joseph Powell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James H. Merrimon who died in 1969, and by a brother, Carl Edgerton Powell.

She was a member of St. George’s Episcopal Church where she served as Altar Guild chairman for many years. Her favorite hobbies were sewing and fishing.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Muriel Cavanaugh Powell; nephew Chip Powell and his wife Debbie Powell and their children Brandon and Alex.

Services will be at 4:00 pm Monday at St. George’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Fr. Clem O. Gunn officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Altar Guild of St. George’s Episcopal Church, 1 School Road, Asheville, NC 28806 or to St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Canton.
