LYNN PRICE HOLBROOK CANDLER – Lynn Price Holbrook, age 62, died March 15, 2011, at Mission Hospital. She was the daughter of the late George W. Price and Winifred Calvin Price. She is survived by her husband, Mike Holbrook of Candler; her son Scott Holbrook and his wife Sara Holbrook, their children Dalton and Price all of Fairfax, VA; her daughter Jodi Holbrook Trantham and her husband Richard Trantham, their son Logan all of Candler; her brother Keith Price of Candler; and a niece and nephew Jennifer Radford Smith and Ryan Radford. She was preceded in death by her sister Barbara "Bobbie" Radford of Candler. She was a graduate of Enka High where she earned All Blue Ridge Conference for basketball each of her 4 years. She graduated from St. Genevieve of the Pines earning a Certificate of Business and later earning an Associate in Accounting Degree from Northern Virginia Community College while working full time and raising an active family. She enjoyed a distinguished 23 year career as a civil employee of the U.S. Marine Corp retiring as Comptroller of the Marine Corp. Exchange (MCX). She remained very active in retirement chasing grandchildren, playing golf, bowling and travel. Despite her husband she could clearly see the good in people. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Christy officiating. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. She loved yellow roses, however if so desired memorials may be made to Oak Hill United Methodist Church, 277 Oak Hill Rd., Candler, NC 28715.

    Lynn was a good woman and she will be missed greatly. Her death should remind each of us, ‘That God puts us here for the short time. Not the long time. Make sure it is a good time’.
