William Jennings “Buddy” Gossett, Jr., 67, of 483 Green Valley Road, Leicester, died Thursday, May
24, 2001, at his residence.
Mr. Gossett was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late William Jennings Gossett, Sr.
and the late Gertrude Lela Cox Gossett. He operated a dairy farm for twenty years before going to work at Square D from 1975 to 1988. Following his retirement he still enjoyed raising tobacco and beefcattle.
He was a Babe Ruth baseball coach and loved hunting and fishing, especially grouse hunting.
He was a member of Bell United Methodist Church.
Mr. Gossett will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived
by his wife of 48 years, Vera Bridges Gossett; two sons, Keith Gossett and his wife, Linda of Leicester and Terry Gossett and his wife, Michelle of Arden; and three grandchildren,
Kristen, Jared and Dalton Gossett.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Michael Scroggs and Bill Gillespie officiating. Burial will be at Bell United MethodistChurch Cemetery.
His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
