Lloyd Donald Wilkey, 52, of 30 Boxturtle Rd., Candler, died Monday, April 30, 2001 in an Asheville hospital.
A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of Lloyd Wilkey and the late Hattie Arrington Wilkey of Enka. He was a Army veteran, and a member of the 211th MP Unit - Clyde, NC. He was a retired electrician with BASF and a member of Enka Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Fisher Wilkey; step-mother, Ruth Wilkey of Enka; daughters, Kelly Wilkey Reynolds of Arden, Charlene Wilkey Taylor of Black Mountain; step-son, Joshua Ray Whiteside of Candler; sister, Regenia Vance of Candler; and three grandchildren, Patrick, Daniel and Rhiannon.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Enka Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Brown officiating. Military rites will be provided by the 211th MP Unit at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
His family will receive friends 7-8:30 Tuesday at Groce Funeral Home, Patton Avenue and at other
times will be at 22 Meadowbrook Dr., Candler.
Memorials may be made to the Leukemia Society of America, 5801 Executive Center Dr., Charlotte, NC.

My deepest condolences to each family member and to all who loved Don. I worked with him at BASF and he was one of the more geniune, caring people I knew. We shared many conversations about his children and grandchildren whom he loved dearly. All of us suffer his passing but nothing can erase the memories of his life. God Bless each of you.
