Asheville Butterfly TrailA native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Mattie Gant. She was married to the late Carroll T. Cornwell who died in 1984 and was preceded in death by two sons Billy J. and Steve Cornwell.
Mrs. Cornwell was a member of Long Shoals Baptist Church for many years and had served as manager of the Valley Springs School Lunchroom. She was a devoted Mother, Sister and Grandmother and will truly be missed by her family.
Surviving are, a daughter, Nina and her husband Frank of League City, TX; two sons, Roy and his wife Jean of Polk County, NC; Tommie and his wife Evelyn of Mills River, NC; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three sisters and one brother.
Graveside services will be 2 pm Sunday, March 18, 2001 at Shepherd Memorial Park in Hendersonville, NC conducted by Reverend Roger Rearden.
Memorials may be made to, Long Shoals Baptist Church, 661 Long Shoals Rd, Arden, NC 28704.
The family wishes to express a special ''Thank You'' to the staff at Flesher's Fairview Rest Home for the loving care given to their loved one.

We are so sorry. We knew you mom when we lived in Haywood Manor.She was a sweet lady.
I would just like to say, that I am truely going to miss Mrs. Cornwell. Your Mother, will forever be in my Thoughts, my heart, and my prayers. There is a song that goes, ‘Lord please send your best Angel for Momma’,and in my heart I feel that he did, May the same good Lord that took your Mother home to be with him, give you peace of mind. Please know you are in my heart and Prayers.
