Mr. Cagle was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late Carl H. and Ollie Crook Cagle. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Lillian O. Cagle, November 6, 1999, and by two sons, Michael Cagle in 1941 and the Rev. Carroll Cagle in 1994, a brother Melvin Cagle, and two sisters, Bertha Roane and Ruth Smith.
He was formerly employed in the florist profession at Middlemont, Robinson and South Forist Florists and more recently at Groce Funeral Home.
He is survived by one daughter, Judy C. McKinney and her husband Everett of Asheville; two sons, Coy Cagle and his wife Judy of Asheville and Dick Cagle and his wife Gail of Selma, NC; a daughter-in-law, Mildred Cagle of Asheville; fourteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. G. Scott Lynch officiating. Burial will be at Acton United Methodist Church Cemetery.
His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times will be at the home of Judy McKinney, 81 Thompson Road, Asheville.
