Fairview ~ William �Mike� Michael Sayles, 60, of Fairview died on Sunday, December 19, 2010 in the John F. Keever Hospice Solace Center.
He was born in Buncombe County and was the son of Yvonne Melton Jarvis of Swannanoa and the late William Lola Sayles and was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Sayles.
He worked for the NC Department of Transportation and was a US Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam Conflict.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Regina Bane; a brother, Donnie Sayles and wife Darlene all of Fairview; niece, Brandy Sayles Montagnari and husband Morgan of Bristol, TN.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home East Asheville on Tunnel Road with the Rev. Jimmy Page officiating. Burial will follow at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
Military rites will be conducted by the North Carolina Army National Guard Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 120 Executive Park, Building 1, Asheville, NC 28801.

Was sad to hear of Mikes passing.I had seen him at his home 2 years ago.I have many memories of that home place and of Mike,Donnie,Regina,Yvonne and their late dad Bill. Was a place where we all watched t.v.on Saturday mornings.Many memories of playing on the houseboat at Fontana and of fishing. Mike was a good man and will be missed.Prayers with all of you.
