Macie Wright Duyck, 93, of Asheville, died Christmas Day after an extended illness.
A native of Buncombe County, Macie resided in Asheville for more than 55 years. She is the widow of J.C. Duyck, Sr. whom she married in
1926. They were married for 58 years until his death in 1984. She was also preceded in death by her parents, P.A. and Rachel Elizabeth Ford Wright; a daughter, Patty Lee and a son J.C.
Duyck, Jr. Macie retired from the Kellwood Corp. in 1970 after 26 years of service.
Macie enjoyed many hobbies including gardening which produced prize-winning vegetables and sewing. She was particularly known for her
hand made quilts, having made many dozen over the years and other handicrafts. She was very active as a member of Morningside Baptist
Church for more than 50 years.
She is survived by three children, James A. Duyck and Mabel D. Stewart of Asheville and Freida D. Wright of Ocean Isle, NC; nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and one
great-great-grandchild. In addition, being of a family of nine children, she is survived by J.
Fred Wright of Weaverville, Viola W. Owen and Claude C. Wright of Asheville and Roy S. Wright of Canton.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Morningside Baptist Church with visitation one hour prior to the service. Reverend Ron Kiser will officiate with burial following in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
At other times the family will be at the home of Mabel Stewart, 225 Governors View Rd., Asheville.
