John Wilson Ivey, Sr., 82, of 4 Morgan Blvd. Arden, died Friday, December 15, 2000.

A native of Erwin, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Mattie Sparks Ivey and John Franklin Ivey.

Mr. Ivey was a retired Navy veteran with 22 years service and retired after 18 years with Gerber Products.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Pearl Angel Ivey; two daughters and their husbands, Rhonda and Mike Keenan of Spanish Fort, Ala., Belinda and Larry Baker of Oldsmar, Fla.; three sons, John Ivey, Jr. of Arden, Mike Ivey and his wife, Cindy, of Arden, Robbie Ivey of Arden and 8 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am Wednesday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian conducted by the Rev. Donald Welborn. Interment will follow in Calvary Churchyard with military rites conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans Council Memorial Team.

The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Long Shoals Road and at other times will be at the residence.
