Wallace Howard Evans

Born in Sylva, he was the son of the late Harry Lee and Mamie Sue Jones Evans. He was a graduate of the University of North Carolina and attended the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. He was a member of Haywood Street United Methodist Church.

He is survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Nell Evans of Asheville and Miriam and Monty Du Puy of Greenville, SC; three nieces, Margot Du Puy-Howerton of Greenville, SC, Mary Jennings of Simpsonville, SC, and Melissa Du Puy of Nashville, TN, and five great nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 pm Sunday at Green Hills Cemetery with the Rev. Dorothy B. Thomas officiating.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Haywood Street United Methodist Church, 297 Haywood Street, Asheville, NC 28801.

Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is in charge of the arrangements.
