Roger Anthony Lakowicz, 79, of 59 Maple Ridge Lane, Asheville, died Tuesday, February 29, 2000, in a local nursing facility.

A native of Binghamton, NY, he was the son of the late Anthony and Anna Lakowicz. He was a Navy veteran of WW II, a retired employee of Singer-Kerfott and a member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Jolly Lakowicz; a son, Richard Russell Lakowicz of Greensboro, NC; three step-children, Robert M. Jolly of Eveston, IL, Karen MacDonald of Jacksonville, FL, Elizabeth Kelley of Clinton, MS; and two grandchildren, Ashely Elizabeth and Ryan Anthony.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am Saturday at St. Barnabas Catholic Church with Father Roger Arnsparger officiating. Entombment will follow in Lewis Memorial Park.

His family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m., Friday at Groce Funeral Home, Patton Avenue.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Area Hospice, PO Box 16, Asheville, NC 28802.
