Mildred S. Lackey

Mrs. Lackey was born in Iredell County, was a daughter of the late Elam Ellington and Chattie Mae Sherrill, and was married to John R. Lackey, who died in 1990. She was a member of Haywood Street United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Russell of Asheville; four sons, John R. Lackey, Jr., E.A. Lackey and Tom Lackey of Weaverville and Frank A. Lackey of Lenoir City, TN; ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 am Friday, December 31, at Lewis Memorial Park with the Rev. Dorothy Thomas officiating.

Her family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Thursday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
