Frank Kenneth Surrett
August 22, 1938 ~ October 16, 1999
Asheville Butterfly TrailMr. Surrett was born in the Sandy Mush section of Buncombe County and was a son of the late Lloyd and Velda Surrett. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Gaither and Jim Surrett. He was an Army veteran and worked for 30 years with the Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Aurora, IL. He returned to Buncombe County in 1989 and worked for Leicester Supply Co. and attended Big Sandy United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Eunice G. Surrett; a daughter, Rhonda Renee
Gutierrez of Aurora; a son, Ronald Ray Surrett of Talbot, TN; two sisters, Eva Turner of Sandy Mush and Kay Davis of Henderson, NC; four brothers, Bud, Ted, Gerald and Joe Ben Surrett of Sandy Mush; two step-daughters, Mary Jo Lenti of Ozark, Ark, and Shelby Black of Denver, CO; a step-son, John Westling of Uniontown, OH, nine
grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Ed Worley and Bill Gillespie officiating. Burial will be in Paynes Chapel Cemetery.
His family will receive friends from 5 - 7:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
He was such a great man and i loved him with all my heart!! He was my grandpa!!! THE BEST!!!!!
Ken was a wonderful Uncle and always enjoyed being around him.He will be truely missed by all of us.Rest in Peace Uncle Ken.

Ken – as we knew him – always had a smile to give and a kind hand to lend. He was always there to help out when needed as he has helped my dad out so many times. He also showed so much kindness and had so much fun with children. My boys loved him dearly and speak of him often. They will always know the nicknames that he gave them both. He gave Josh his first taste of candy. We will always remember him fondly and keep his memory alive in our family. Our thoughts and love are with Ken’s family and we know that he will always be near you in your hearts.
