Amanda Vaughn Brown, 91, formerly of the Asheville Terrace Apartments, died Wednesday,
September 29, 1999, in a local nursing center.

Mrs. Brown was born in Polk County and was a daughter of the late Emory M. and Ida Stone
Vaughn.  She was married to Frank D. Brown who died in 1948, and was employed by Farmer’s Federation and by the Dell School.  She was the
oldest living member of Deaverview Baptist Church and was a member of the Ladies Bible Class.

She is survived by a daughter, Sharon B. Norton of
Candler;  two sons, David L. (Jack) Brown of Asheville and Bob E. Brown of Candler;  two sisters, Ruth V. Staffon of High Point, Viola Brendle of Marion;  twelve grandchildren and
forteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 4:00 pm Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Reverends Lee Roy Denton and Tom Pierce officiating.  Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Thursday at the funeral home and at other times
will be at the home of the daughter, Sharon Norton, 541 Asbury Rd.
