Lexie Crisp Lance, 91, formerly of Morgan Branch Road, Candler, died Saturday, February 13, 1999, in a Haywood County hospital.

Mrs. Lance was born in Swain County and was a daughter of the late Charles and Maggie Taylor Crisp.  She was married to the late James J. Lance, Sr., and was also preceded in death by two sons, Gaston Lance and James J. Lance, Jr., a daughter, Billie Morgan, and a grandson, Charles Ernest Lance.

She was a member of White Rock Baptist Church where she was past-president of the WMU and former principal of the Bible school.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Genevieve and Calvin Shope;  two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Jackie Lance and the Rev. R.H. 'Bud' and Martha Lance;  a daughter-in-law, Violet Lance;   a son-in-law, Gedwin Morgan;  a sister, Nine Jones;  24 grandchdilren and 32 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday at White Rock Baptist CHurch with the Revs. Richard Kinsland, Tony Burnette, and R.H. Lance officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Her grandsons will be pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Monday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue where Mrs. Lance will remain until being placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.

AT other times her family will be at the home of Genevieve Shope.  Memorials may be made to  White Rock Baptist Church, PO Box 1277, Candler, NC 28715.
