Mrs. Ann Carroll, known affectionately as "Mimi", age 92, died quietly at Givens Estates in Asheville on January 2, 2010, after struggling with Alzheimers for five years.
A native of Riglewood, North Carolina, she was the youngest of seven siblings of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Hinyard. She was married to Wade Carroll from 1936 until his death in 1977. She was the last survivor of her brothers and sisters and her son, Christopher Wade Carroll, predeceased her.
She is survived by her two daughters, Peggy Carroll Clinkscales of Atlanta and Sylvia Carroll Revis of Fairview, North Carolina; by three granddaughters, Courtney Clinkscales, Allyson Carroll Hettrick and Kimberly Carroll Brooks and by three grandsons, Alan Revis, Shane Carroll Allen, Scott Carroll; and she is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
She enjoyed her affiliation with The First Baptist Church of Asheville for over 50 years and in particular with her Sunday School Class. She frequently invited her class to Lake Lure for picnics and boating.
Mimi was a wonderful, elegant and loving lady, the kind of person everyone loved to love. She was always pleasant, smiling and optimistic. She raised her family with strong values of love, integrity, honesty and responsibility. She was a great cook, and everyone looked forward to a meal by Mimi, with rolls made from scratch, turkey and her special dressing, giblet gravy, and her homemade peach ice cream.
She and her family spent a great deal of time in their favorite vacation home at Lake Lure, where they all enjoyed swimming and water skiing. For many years, it became the prime gathering spot for the family get-togethers.
The family extends their sincere gratitude to the dedicated staff and doctors who attended her so compassionately during her years at Givens. A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 10 at First Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, your expression of condolence may be as a donation to Alzheimers' Research, 3800 Shamrock Dr., Branscomb #10, Charlotte, NC 28215-3220 or The First Baptist Church, 5 Oak Street, Asheville, NC 28801.

We were so sorry to read in the Asheville paper about Ann passing away. She was indeed a jewel. Don worked with Ann at Kearfott in the 60’s. Our son is now 46 and she and your dad hosted a baby shower at their beautiful home at Lake Lure. Don knew your dad through the company where he worked. Bob Gatlan was the salesman that called on Don at Collins & Aikman and he always kept us posted on your mom. We did not know she was in Givens. Don now works part time at a funeral home in Marion and has picked up at Givens.
Just keep the good memories in your heart. She was a Proberbs 31 wife and Mother.
May God give you comfort and peace
Don and Mary Nell Fox

Many fond memories from way back in the 60’s.Your mom has always held a special place in my heart. My condolances to you and your families.
I cared for Ms. Carroll at Givens while receiving my CNA license. She was the sweetest lady there. I’m sorry to hear about her passing, but she is in a much better place and will be missed!
Sylvia Ann, our family shared some great times with your family when we were young. My parents, Harvey and Dot Randall and my sister, Joan had so much fun at Lake Lure with everyone. Thanks for the wonderful memories. Peace in Christ, Teenie
