Asheville - James H. Westall, 67, of 134
Deerlake Drive, died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 1998.

A native of Buncombe County, he was the son
of the late Frank W. Westall and Lorena Ray
Westall.  He was a member of Arden
Presbyterian Church, past chairman of Deacons,
superintendent of Sunday School and served on
the session and was chairman of the multi-
purpose building.

He was in the Army three years and attended
Blanton's Business College in Traffic
Management under the G.I. Bill.

He was an entrepreneur, a partner starting
Biltmore Tool in 1964 and Bolts and Nuts in
1967.  He was a Director and Past Chairman of
1st Commercial Bank and  a Director of Centura
Bank.  He owned the Buena Vista Motel for
seven years and was active Director in Asheville
Bolt and Screw.  He has been associated with
the Salvation Army on the advisory board for
over 15 years and was a life member of Biltmore
Masonic Lodge #446.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Joan
Duckett Westall; a daughter and son-in-law,
Susan W. and Michael Matthews of Arden; a
son, James H. Westall, Jr. of Asheville; a sister,
Frances W. Rogers of Fruitland; three precious
grandchildren, Kellie Renee', Margaret Ann and
Tucker Westall Matthews of Arden and many
nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am
Thursday at Arden Presbyterian Church.  Rev.
Ed Graham of Arden Presbyterian Church and
Rev. Major Al Smith of the Salvation Army will
conduct the ceremony.  Pallbearers will be
Masonic Brothers from lodge #446.

Thankfully, we have so many friends we would
like to have as Honorary Pallbearers.   There is
not room to list them here.  Thank you with all
our hearts.

Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park
where Biltmore Masonic Lodge #446 will conduct
graveside rites.  The lodge will open at 10 am.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30
pm Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home.
