Evelyn May Davis

EVELYN MAY DAVIS Evelyn May Davis, 85, of Johnston Boulevard, went home to be with the Lord on July 10, 2009. A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of Bessie Benfield Davis of the home and the late Wendell Holmes Davis. She was a graduate of Sand Hill High School. She retired from Square D Company in 1989. After her retirement, she continued as a devoted homemaker and care giver for her beloved mother, now 100 years old. Surviving in addition to her mother is her sister, June Davis O'Connor. "Auntie", as she was known to all her nieces and nephews, also leaves behind her nephew, Michael H. O'Connor and wife, Donna, and her niece, Carol O'Connor Dymond of Marion. Also surviving are seven great nieces and nephews, eight great-great nieces and nephews, and life long friend, Evelyn Hill Robinson of Weaverville. Services for Miss Davis will be held at Groce Funeral Home at 2:30 pm Wednesday with Michael O'Connor officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hills Cemetery.
