Hendersonville ~ Bobbie Williams, of Rugby Knolls Drive, died on Thursday, July 9, 2009 in the VA Medical Center in Asheville.
He was born in Spartanburg County, SC was the son of the late Arvile James Williams and Maggie Margaret Wilson. He was preceded in death by eight brothers.
Mr. Williams was retired from the US Navy as Chief Engineer and was also employed later in life by Newport News Shipbuilders in Asheville. He was an avid enthusiast of Ham radio and a member of Skyland Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father and great Pa.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy "Dotti" Roberts Williams of Hendersonville; two daughters, Rhonda W. Sawyer of Travelers Rest, SC and Sandy W. Bryant and husband Terry of Taylors, SC; a step-son, Tim Randall of Fletcher, NC; two brothers, Calvin Williams and his wife Dot and Tom Williams and his wife Gail of Greer, SC; four grandchildren, Brandon, Haley and husband Shane, Chris and Amanda; two step-grandchildren, Beth and Colt; two great-grandchildren, Madison and Owen.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 12, 2009 in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road with the Rev. David Honeycutt and Rev. Carl Mintz officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery in Asheville.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:00 P.M. on Sunday prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Skyland Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 278, Skyland, N.C. 28776.

Bob was a man with respected Godly principles. We loved spending time with him while at worship, eating a meal or just having a time of fellowship. We will miss him greatly but he is with his Lord now. We all have gained by knowing Bob. His family will always be our family. Thanks Bob.

Dotti, We were very saddened to hear of Bob’s passing. We have known Bob for many years but only got to see him once and a while. Bob was a wonderful man as I knew him and he will surely be missed. Our prayers will be with you and the rest of the family. May GOD BLESS.
