Doris Lou King, 70, of 307 New Leicester Highway, Asheville, died Saturday, August 30, 2003, in an Asheville hospital.
Doris was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Ernest Lafayette King and Margie Hall King. She was retired from Swannanoa Cleaners and was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.
She is survived by three sisters, Evelyn Chapman and Reva King of Asheville, and Eva Worley of Supply, NC; six brothers, Jack and Hubert King of Canton, William King of Kings Mountain, Clyde and Hurley King of Leicester and Wayne King of Waynesville; and a number of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and one great-great-nephew.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Jackie Collins officiating. Burial will be at Jones Valley Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews.
Her family will receive friends from 7:00 - 8:30 pm Monday at the funeral home and at other times will be at the home of Reva King, 344 Hazel Mill Road, Asheville.

We lived beside Ms. King in 2000, and part of 2001. We had just gotten married and she was so very nice to us. We hated to move away from her. She was a GREAT friend and neighbor to have.
