Dennis H. Whitted

Dennis Honas Whitted, 81, died Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at Harris Regional Hospital in Sylva. Mr. Whitted was born January 24, 1928, in Haywood County. He was the son of the late Grady and Bonnie Matthews Whitted, and he had lived most of his life in Buncombe County. He was formerly employed at Concrete Products Co, and retired from Metromont with 46 years of service. He was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church. Mr. Whitted is survived by his daughter, Linda W. Brooks and her husband, Bud, of Sylva; one granddaughter, Cindy P. Wolfrey and her friend, Merlin, of Sylva; the mother of his daughter, Frances W. Whitted of Candler; four sisters, Ruth Stanford of Lexington, NC; Sylvia Smith of Candler, Lottie Trull and her husband, Paul, of Asheville, and Vinnie Whitted of Asheville; ; one brother, William "Bill" Whitted and his wife, Carolyn, of Candler; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Worley officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. At other times, they will be at Paul and Lottie Trull's home on Vanderbilt Terrace and the home of Sylvia Smith of 325 Beaverdam Loop Rd. in Candler. Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be made to one's favorite charity.
