Harry William Smeal

Arden ~ Harry William Smeal, Sr., 78, of Rocky Mountain Way, Arden, passed away on Wednesday, Febru-ary 11, 2009 at Park Ridge Hospital. He was born March 16, 1930 in Bay Village, Ohio and was the son of the late Paul and Velda Hall Smeal. He was preceded in death by a brother, David Smeal. Mr. Smeal worked as a chemical engineer for Miles Laboratory in Chicago, IL. He Retired to Western North Carolina in 1988. He is survived by his wife, Katharine (Cook) Smeal of Arden; two daughters, Sally Bouldin and husband Peter of Oswego, IL and Barbara Laws and husband Tony of Arden; two sons, Harry William "Bill" Smeal, Jr. and wife Susan Sulfaro of Brighton, MI and Richard Smeal of Troy, MI; eight grandchildren, Jillian Durancik, Jessica Bouldin, Karl Durancik, Julia Smeal, Abby Bouldin, Elizabeth Durancik, Andrew Bouldin and Catherine Smeal; a great-grandchild, Alexis Pruitt. A funeral service will be held 4:00 P.M. Saturday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road with the Rev. Perry Brindley officiating.
