Margaret Sluder Roberts

Margaret Sluder Roberts, 84, of Asheville, died Tuesday, January 27, 2009, at John F. Keever Solace Center following a brief illness. A native and life-long resident of Buncombe County, Mrs. Roberts was the daughter of the late Cariel Oscar and Icie Fore Sluder. She was also preceded in death by her husband, partner, companion and love of her life, W.E. Roberts; a brother, J.T. Sluder and a sister, Mary S. Whiteside. Mrs. Roberts was retired from American Enka after 35 years of hourly shift work to make a better life for her family. She enjoyed many simple things especially morning coffee, flowers and candy. Survivors include a son, James Edward Roberts of Asheville; two sisters, Omie Gillespie and Leitha Rogers, both of Leicester; a brother, Richard Sluder of Asheville and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Graveside services will be 11:00 am Friday at Green Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Memorial Garden of Grace Church, 394 N. Haywood Street, Waynesville, NC 28786.
