Cumi Howell London, 99, of 255 Starnes Cove Road, Candler, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 26, 2008, at the John F. Keever Hospice Solace Center. Mrs. London was a native of Whittier, NC, and was a daughter of the late Kansas and Tennessee Turpin Howell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee London, who died on October 9, 2008. The 11th child, Mrs. London was also preceded in death by her five brothers, and five sisters. Mrs. London was employed at American Enka for 14 years, including during the Depression. She was a member of Starnes Cove Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday School teacher. She is survived by her son, James Lee London and his wife, Belinda, of Candler; five grandchildren, Danielle Fender and her husband, Marc Fender, Jamie London, Jason Fender and his wife, Sheila, and Joe Cole and his wife, Michelle; and seven great-grandchildren, Lana, Jordan, Dakota, Katie, Sarah, Parker and Tyler. A funeral service for Mrs. London will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Starnes Cove Baptist Church with the Rev. Charlie Sams officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:30 pm Sunday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.   1. Please accept my symapathy in the homegoing of your mother. My daddy, Harry Dycus, was her pastor at Starnes Cove Bapt. Church, and we had Sunday dinner in her home many times. She and your dad were great friends of the Dycus family.
    I am one of the twins, Faye, and I married a preacher who has pastored here in Ms.. Our prayers are with you.
