Harold H. Nesbitt, 84, of Hendersonville, died Friday, December 12, 2008 at Flesher's Fairview Healthcare Center. A native of Buncombe County who lived in Fairview for most of his life, he was a son of the late Benjamin A. and Bessie Henderson Nesbitt. Harold was also preceded in death by two sisters and eight brothers. Harold was a veteran of the US Navy and served in Normandy Beach in WWII. He was the first employee and a supervisor at C.P. Clare Company. Harold was a former member of Emma's Grove Baptist Church and a current member of French Broad Baptist Church. Harold is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Ruth Mason Nesbitt; one daughter, Beverly Evans, of Fletcher and one granddaughter, Haley Evans, of Fletcher as well as several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, December 14, 2008 in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with Pastor Kemuel Pruitt officiating. Interment will follow at Tweeds Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 PM on Sunday at the funeral home. They would like to thank Four Seasons Hospice and Flesher's Fairview Healthcare Center for their loving care of Harold. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to French Broad Baptist Church, 182 Grandview Lane, Hendersonville, NC 28791 or to Four Seasons Hospice, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.

    I am sorry about your loss. Please take comfort in knowing that Harold made a diffrence in the lives of so many. I just want you to know that he was a great friend to my dad, Jimmy Austin. Daddy always had such great stories to tell of their adventures. He will be greatly missed. Please let us know if you need anything. You are in our prayers daily.
