David C. Hallden, 65, of Asheville, NC died Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at the John F. Keever, Jr. CarePartners Hospice Solace Center in Asheville. David was born March 2, 1943, in Rockford, IL, son of the late C. Howard Hallden. He made a career in the men's clothing business, most recently as manager and buyer at Kosta's Menswear in Asheville. He served proudly in the US Army Reserves from 1964-1970. An active member at the Parish of the Basilica of St. Lawrence, David served as Head Usher, Financial Secretary for the Knights, and was on the Pastoral Council and the Historic Preservation Committee. He was also a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 1695. He will be remembered for his kind smile and willingness to help others. David is survived by his beloved stepmother, Bern Hallden, of Rockford, IL and his two daughters, Kerri and Trisha, both of Chicago, IL. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Fr. C. Morris Boyd at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Basilica of St. Lawrence. Interment will be at Scandinavian Cemetery in Rockford, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Historic Preservation Committee of the Basilica of St. Lawrence, 97 Haywood Street, Asheville, NC 28801.
