Thomas Franklin Morrison, Jr., 90, of 100 Arco Road, Asheville, died Monday, April 14, 2008, at the NC Baptist Home.
Mr. Morrison was a native of Concord, was a son of the late Thomas F. Morrison, Sr. and Oreen Cozart Morrison and was married to the late Sara Dillard Morrison. He was a graduate of Davidson College and NC State University and was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Mr. Morrison served as a captain with the US Army during WW II and was a member of the Asheville First Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his daughter, Molly Morrison Steel and husband, Charles, of Durham; his son, Thomas F. Morrison III of Simsbury, CT; one sister, Leila Morrison Haw of Richmond, VA; four grandchildren, Joseph Kendall Cook, Jr., Mary "Mimi" Cook, Elizabeth Morrison and Thomas F. Morrison IV; and his special friend, Doris VanArsdale.
A memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the NC State Veterans Cemetery, Black Mountain, with the Rev. Margaret Torrence officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 40 Church Street, Asheville, NC 28801.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is assisting with the arrangements.
