Dorothy Glynn Brown Barker went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Sunday, March 2, 2008, in Merritt Island, FL.
Mrs. Barker was born in Asheville in 1914, and was married for 52 years to the late Harry J. Barker of Merritt Island.
Over the years, Dorothy was a store manager, secretary, and office manager for Debar Equipment Company in Merritt Island. She was an active member of the Beta Sigma Phi business women's sorority for more than 50 years. She was an active member of Grace Methodist Church until health issues kept her at home.
She is survived by her loving family, son Harry G. Barker (Barbara), granddaughter Pamela Anderson (Eric), and grandson James G. Barker (Pamela), four great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Her sweet spirit and quick smile will be missed by all her family.
A graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Green Hills Cemetery, Asheville.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is assisting with the arrangements.
