Bernice "Boo Boo" Love Shuler, was born March 23, 1929, went to her heavenly home on Friday, February 22, 2008. Family was her number one priority in life. She loved having them around and had cherished memories with each and every one. She is survived by her daughters, Lynn and Karen Shuler of the home and sister-in-law, Peggy Smith and her husband, Charles, of West Asheville. Boo Boo had a very beloved extended family which include a very special granddaughter, Cassie Dawn Killian of Swannanoa (if it weren't for you, she would never have been "Boo Boo".); special grandson, Luke Mathew Ogle of Black Mountain (just saying your name brought a smile to her face); special grandsons, Brandon and Travis Rice of Cape Coral, FL (She loved you boys! She missed you so much!); and a special granddaughter, Nina Webb of Sylva (you will never know how much she loved you). Boo Boo's extended family also includes Nancy and Steve Metcalf and daughters Susie and Teresa of Marshall, Donna and Floyd Hilemon and Alan Candler of Candler, Fran Webb of Sylva, Dania Glover of Waynesville, Barbara Jamison of Candler, Angela Killian of Swannanoa and Leesa Young of Asheville. You will never know how much you meant to her. She always loved seeing you come to visit and hated it when you had to leave. We would like to thank the staff of the John F. Keever Solace Center for the care and compassion you showed her in her last days on this earth. May God bless you all. Thank you also to CarePartners/Hospice, Jane, Tina and Joyce for your care and love for our mother. To those of you who spent time holding her hand, cooked, cleaned, and gave of your time or some special heartfelt prayers, May God Bless You. Most of all to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for receiving Your child home on February 22, 2008. Without You, Lord, we could never have survived this time of heartache and sadness and we praise You for it. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Reverend Judson Rotan officiating. Burial will be at Addie Cemetery in Sylva. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Kingdom Kids/Buckeye Baptist Church, 102 West Buckeye Road, Swannanoa, NC 28778.

  3. Karen and Lynn,
My prayers are with you and while the loss of your Mother has changed the flavor of life, may the sweet spice of her memories make the taste of life good. May the same peace your Mom is experiencing, be yours.

  4. Karen and Lynn,
Bernice was such a colorful, one-of-a-kind character who always seemed to be so positive and uplifting; she will be missed greatly in this valley, and in this life … but we’ll see her again pretty soon in all her glory again! To me she was like the very best of Granny Love saved for us, with a big dose of humor and fun! God bless her, and God bless you … until we meet again.
