Albert William McFarlin

Albert William McFarlin, 92, of 125 Cedar Hill Road, Asheville, died Friday, January 11, 2008, at John F. Keever Hospice Solace Center. A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late G.H. and Pearl Moore McFarland. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Wilma Henson McFarlin, who died in 1996; brothers, Charles, Robert, Grover and Howard; sisters, Kathleen Smith and Wilma Davis. Mr. McFarlin formerly worked at Asheville Hoisery Mill and Skyland Hoisery Mill but was a home builder for most of his life. He was a member of Candler House of Prayer. Survivors include his wife, Zennie Brown Elledge McFarlin; son, Von E. McFarlin of Candler; step-son, Carl Elledge of Weaverville; step-daughter, Doris Miller of Leicester; sisters, Louise McFarlin Cook and husband Doyle of Asheville and Betty McFarlin Lunsford of Weaverville; two granddaughters, Belinda Rickman and Melissa O’Kelley; 2 great-granddaughters, Melissa Smith and Samantha Smith; three step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Chuck Waldrup and G.W. Jameson officiating. Burial will follow at Snow Hill UMC Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be made to John F.
