Arden - Evelyn Moffitt Carver, 84, of the Crescent View Retirement Center, died unexpectedly Sunday, June 8, 2003. She was the daughter of the late Ester Dowell Moffitt and Tell Moffitt and wife of the late A.G. Carver, Jr., who died in 1999. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church. Early in Mrs. Carver’s career, she was a pianist and organist with a local band, church organist for Fletcher United Methodist Church, a real estate agent and retired in 1982 as corporate secretary of A.G. Carver Real Estate. She is survived by her children, Judy Carver, and her husband Stuart Lewis, of Asheville, Greg Carver, and his wife Nancy, of Freedom, Maine; her granddaughter Michelle Carver; and a sister, Hazel Owen of Newport News, Virginia. A memorial service will be held at 3 pm Wednesday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian conducted by the Rev. Rob Blackburn. A private graveside service was held at Lewis Memorial Park. The family will receive friends in the Deerwood Condominium Clubhouse immediately following the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Assn., P.O. We saw her most every Sunday at Church and she always greeted us with a happy smile and greeting. She will be missed by all who knew her and especially those of us at Central Methodist.
