Bessie Mae Ownbey

Bessie Mae McLellan Burrows Ownbey, 85, of 10 Fieldcrest Drive, Candler, died Saturday, June 30, 2007 at Pisgah Manor Health Care Center. A native of Durant, Mississippi, she was a daughter of the late Cleveland Hubbard and Bessie Blondale Ward. She was also preceded in death by her husbands. L.P. Burrows, and Charles R. Ownbey. Mrs. Ownbey retired from American Enka, where she had worked as a textile technician in research and development. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star, and was a former director for Meals on Wheels. She was a member of Hominy Baptist Church. Mrs. Ownbey is survived by her daughters, Ruth West and husband Hal, of Chatsworth, GA, and Sue Hudson and husband Charles, of Valdosta, GA; son, Jim Burrows and wife Beverly, of Candler; brother, Everett McLellan, of Jackson, MS; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Ownbey will have a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 5, 2007 at Mizpah Cemetery, in Durant, MS. She will also have a memorial service at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 14, 2007 at Hominy Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Yelton officiating.
