Asheville ~ William Charles Yandel, 81, of 14 Bevlyn Drive, died Monday, March 31, 2003 in his home. A native of Chicago, IL, Mr. Yandel was a son of the late Clara Retzke Yandel and Henry Yandel and husband of the late Joan Francis Yandel who died in 1994. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Florence Walls who died in 1971. Mr. Yandel was a US Army veteran of the Rainbow Division and worked as an engineer and estimator. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Nativity. Survivors include a sister, Lorene Elizabeth Yandel of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; three daughters, Cherie Merrick, Linda McGee, both of Asheville and Renee Pechonis of Pompano Beach, FL; nine grandchildren, Joseph Bosse, Robert Bosse, Michael Bosse, Lisa Bosse, Timothy Bosse, Christopher Rebol, Paul Chastain, Michael Pechonis and Corey Pechonis; a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Faith Chastain and a brother, Harry Yandel of Dallas, TX. A memorial service will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Lutheran Church of the Nativity with Rev. Mark Fitzsimmons officiating. Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Church of the Nativity Building Fund, 2425 Hendersonville Road, Arden, NC 28704. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.

  2. I always enjoyed seeing Bill in church Sundays. Most importantly, I enjoyed seeing the special relationship you shared with him. I was always apparent that there was a special love that you shared.
    Now he is well and smiling down at you, he has reunited with his loved ones that have passed before, and still will be with you always.
