Clay Austin Medford

Clay Austin Medford, 86, of 342 Davis Creek Rd., Candler, died Friday, January 5, 2007, at home. A native of Buncombe County, Mr. Medford was a son of the late Greeley and Mary Medford Medford. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Nellie Medford Warren, who died in 2002. Mr. Medford was a US Army veteran and served as an MP. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Medford is survived by his wife of 63 years, Helen Gentry Medford; daughter, Sheila Medford, of Candler; son, Benny Dale Medford, of Candler; and grandson, Andrew Medford. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Austin Watts and Marvin Watts officiating. Interment will follow at White Rock Baptist Church Cemetery. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
