Ellie Ann Pounders, 84, of 39 Pennsylvania Avenue, Asheville, died Saturday, March 8, 2003, in an Asheville hospital.
Mrs. Pounders was a lifelong resident of Asheville and was a daughter of the late John and Maggie Masters. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bill Pounders and a daughter Janice Jackson.
Left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Barbara Norman, with whom Mrs. Pounders made her home; three sons, Jim Huskey and his wife May, Bob Huskey and his wife Faye, and Johnny Huskey, all of Asheville; twenty-two grandchildren and thirty-four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Higgins officiating. Burial will be at New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. Grandsons will be pallbearers.
Her family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

We thank God for giving our family this wonderful woman for 84 years, for letting her keep her health and dignity until the end, for taking her home without suffering, and for making it possible, through his son’s death,to meet her again in Heaven. Until then, we will hold her memory in our hearts.
