Arden – Betty Jo Towe, 74, of Mills Gap Road, peacefully went to be with her Lord, surrounded by her family and friends on Saturday, August 12, 2006.
A native of Asheville, she was the daughter of the late John and Lillian Griffith Hare. She was a member of Skyland Baptist Church.
Mrs. Towe is survived by her husband of 56 years, John Eugene Towe; three daughters, Susan Towe of Hendersonville, Pam Surrett, and her husband Michael, of Fairview and Sharon Murray of Arden; five grandchildren, Candace Young and her husband Jay, Claudine Brown and her husband Brad, Lindsay Murray, Brian Surrett and Brandon Surrett; and two great-grandchildren, Lauren Young and Chase Brown. Also surviving is a brother, Melvin Hare of Oakley, his wife Peggy and daughter Kim.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am Wednesday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian conducted by the Rev. Walter Hare. The family will receive friends following the service. A private interment will be in Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Area Hospice, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
