Pauline Russ King, 86, of 89 Solomon Rd., Leicester, died Tuesday, July 18, 2006, at her residence. Mrs. King was born in Fries, VA and was the daughter of the late John and Ocie Hollifield Russ. Mrs. King was also preceded in death by her sister, Edna McKinney, and by her two brothers, George Russ and Jack Russ. Mrs. King worked at Burlington Industries as a cotton spinner for more than 26 years. She attended Corinth Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband of 52 years, James Howard King; five daughters: Sylvia Gowing and her husband Pete, Frankie Woody and her husband Joe, Diane Hyatt, Jean Sluder, all of Leicester, and Linda Riddle and her husband Greg, of Swannanoa; three sons: Greg King and his wife Cristie of Arden, J.T. Barber and his wife Gloria, of Fairview, and Jerry King and his wife Judi, of Leicester; one sister, Anna Mae Wooten, of Asheville; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue with the Rev. Everette Haney officiating. Interment will follow at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery. Ron Gowing, Mark Gowing, Joseph Austin, Jonathan Barber, Chris Hyatt, and Jeremy King will serve as pallbearers. Her family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
