Viola Ensley Blazer, 90, of 278 Curtis Creek Road, Candler, died Tuesday, May 16, 2006, at Mission Hospitals. A native of Madison County, she was a daughter of the late George Stokley and Eliza Black Ensley. She was also preceded in death by her husband Jake Howard Blazer who died in 1996; a brother, Palmer Ensley and his wife Evelyn Revis Ensley; a son-in-law, Roy F. Elliott; a daughter-in-law, Jane M. Blazer; grandson, Danny Blazer and great-grandson, Nathan Blazer. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Marie Elliott of Candler; a son Kenneth Blazer and his wife Hazel of Candler; two sisters-in-law, Orla Ball of Marshall and Blanche Ball of Candler; five grandchildren, Roy, Jr., Larry, Bill, Phillip and Marvin; seven great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Kenny, Lori, Travis, Brian, Morgan and Allison; six great-great-grandchildren, Atley, Lauren, Brooke, Riley, Caleb and Anthony. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with the Revs. Bobby Winebarger and Rick McCarson officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with Alice Morgan serving as honorary pallbearer. Her family will receive friends from 7:00-8:30 pm Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue and request that memorials be made to the Alzheimers Association, 31 College Place, Suite D320, Asheville, NC 28801-2644.
