Pearl Caldwell Allen, 91, of Candler, died Friday, March 10, 2006, at Pisgah Manor Health Care. A native of Cherokee County, she was a daughter of the late David Alden and Margaret Rathbone Caldwell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Larkin A. Allen, who died in 1991; two sisters, Faye Smith and Fanneta Taylor; three brothers, Brown Caldwell, Reece Caldwell and Ken Caldwell. She was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church and had worked for Candler Elementary School and Davis Clothing. Survivors include a son, Kenny Allen and his long time companion Donna Franklin of Candler and her children Ashley Hicks and Jared Hicks; three sisters, Phoebe Hartness, Valerie Bissell and Genelle Burnette; a granddaughter, Charity Allen and a great-grandson, Zachary. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Reverend Jack Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends from 7:00-8:30 pm Sunday at the funeral home and request that memorials be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, in memory of Rita Moody, PO Box 241535, Charlotte, NC.

  1. A lifetime of wonderful memories have flooded my mind today. A wonderful friend has gone to heaven and was welcomed by Lark and a host of family and friends. My thoughts and prayers are with all the family. We will meet her again one day. Clinton sends his love as well.

Kenny,my thoughts and prayers are with you .As we grew up together your parents and mine were friends .Pearl and Larkin were a part of our family, as we the kids of war veterans taged along on all of the VFW outings and i remember Pearl as a strong woman, she will be missed . I am there if you need a friend..

  5. My aunt Pearl was a great lady. I have many fond childhood memories of her and her late husband Lark. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered. We on earth have lost an old friend, and heaven has a new good neighbor. She will be missed!!
