Jack Donald Gibson, 67, of 52 Dogwood Lane, Asheville, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 14, 2005.
Born on December 7, 1937, in Cocke County, Tennessee, he lived most of his life in Buncombe County. He was the son of the late Elmer L. and Gladys Gates Gibson and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph C. Gibson and Dean Gibson. A member of New Liberty Baptist Church for 31 years, he served as a deacon for 18 years and taught Sunday School for 15 years. He was a US Navy veteran.
Survivors include his loving wife and buddy of 46 years, Nancy Parham Gibson; a daughter, Vickie Taylor and her husband Dewayne of Asheville; a son, Danny Gibson and his wife Karen of Candler; four grandchildren, Zack, Jake, Baylee and Heath.
Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Sunday at New Liberty Baptist Church with the Revs. Danny Little, Don Freeman and Garry Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
His family will receive friends from 1:30-3:00 pm at the church prior to the service and at other times will be at the residence.

It was a joy sharing in the care of Jack. The entire family are in my thoughts and prayers.
Jack was a bright soul and will be missed by many. Our prayers and condolences are with the family during this difficult time.
