  2. Cecil,
I’m so sorry for your loss. I didn’t know Cole, but having known you I’m sure he was a great guy and will be missed by many. I will be praying for you and your family to make it through this tough time.

  3. To The Edmonds Family

I had the great pleasure of knowing Coleman for the past 8 years of my life. Cole was not just my neighbor for five years and a great friend, he was my brother. Cole was always there when something was broken, always with a smile. I am absolutely devasted. I will never forget our snowball fights on the rooftop early in the AM, all the trips to Fontana, and all of our sorrows and triumps together.
I truely hope that Cole’s family and all of our friends can find some stability through their faith and ALL of our fond memories of such a beautiful person. Cole will never be forgotten!

    My Sincere Condolences,
    Corinne

  4. COLE WILL BE TERRIBLY MISSED. A LOT OF LIVES WILL BE CHANGED BECAUSE OF HIS ABSENSE. MY PRAYERS ARE WITH HIS FAMILY IN THIS TRAGIC TIME.

  5. Dear Edmonds Family,

  6. Dear Cole Family,

I am so sorry for your loss. I didn’t know Cole well but each time our paths crossed I could always count on the exchange of a few kind words and the flash of that happy smile he always wore. He will be missed by me around the halls of Southwestern Child Development.

Cole was always such a nice, polite and pleasant young man to be around. As I read in some of the other memorials you should be very proud to know you had a part in raising such a wonderful person who touched the lives of so many people in such a positive way.

  10. My brother Jason "Jake" Smith served in the Army with Cole and considered him a brother from the moment they met. I had the pleasure of meeting Cole at Ft.Benning on family day in boot camp. Even meeting briefly, I could easily see why Jake thought so highly of him. I wish to send respect and condolences to the entire Edmonds family. God bless.Shannon Smith

  11. Cecil, Diane and Alana…

I will always cherish the memories of growing up with Cole. He was a big brother to me for many years…building tree forts in the back woods, playing Gi-Joe, spending summers with him at the lake, Boy Scouts, elementary school, birthday parties, New Years Eve celebrations with the kids while the parents partied all night… and many other times that he was a friend to talk to and spend time with. Even though he was older than me, he never treated me as if I was a kid. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

    I love you very much!!

    Mark Jones

  12. Cole and I graduated high school together and was one of my very best friends through those years. I will remember the great times in class and hanging out after football games. He was great friend to everyone he met. He would give to anyone who needed his help and I will miss him greatly. Now he is with his friend Ricky Evenson playing jokes on everyone in Heaven with the Lord laughing at both of them knowing he made wonderful angles out of wonderful people!

  13. Dear Mr and Mrs Edmonds, My heart aches for you and your family. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. My son, Jason Smith and Cole were great friends in the Army. I think they got each other through some of the tough times, and enjoyed the good times together as well. Jason was so happy to be able to visit Cole after they got back to the states. We were so glad to meet Cole when we went down for Visitor’s Day, at Fort Benning. We immediately fell in love with his warm smile and gentle soul, and was so glad Jason had made such a good friend. We enjoyed all the stories Jason would write home about or share with us on the phone, and Cole’s name was always in the stories. Mac and Jayne Smith

  15. To The Edmonds Family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. He was a dedicated brother and a loving friend to all. I have only known Cole for three years but my husband had the honor of being his brother for much longer. Mike has told me stories that made me see how he truly valued his friendships. With Cole, there were always times of laughter. He always had a bright smile on his face and a true love for life. He was a wonderful man and loved his friends as they were family. Cole has given us many memories and knowledge that will forever live on.
    We love you Cole,

  21. Cecil, Dianne, & Alana,
We are so sorry to hear about Cole. He was very special to us. His smile and friendly ways were always a blessing when we saw him.

  22. Cole had more zeal for life than anyone I’ve ever met. The phrase, ‘make the most of every day’ must have originated from someone who knew Cole!

The thing I remember most about Cole was how good he made me (and everyone else around him) feel about themselves. He was always encouraging, discovering, laughing, and just plain enjoying life. I don’t think I’ve ever met a more content person.

Cecil and Diane – you raised a son who was a kind-hearted, gentle spirit. He was patient, observant, considerate, brave, and loyal. You could always depend on Cole. I don’t see how you could be more proud…

Cole will always have a warm place in my heart. He is an inspiration to me to live my life to its fullest and to stay true to myself. He makes me smile inside and out, and I will forever be grateful for that.

Cole – you will always be part of my life. I have never forgotten you.

Be good ‘up there’ 🙂 and stay out of trouble!

    With love,
    -angela

  25. The Edmonds Family,
I’ve known Cole for almost 10 years, a 1/3 of my life. It’s just not going to be the same without him. I was thinking back to all the good times we shared and I can’t ever remember him being down about anything. He was always happy and that’s what made it so great to be around him. Just thinking about all those times puts a smile on my face. He touched a lot of people’s lives and he will be greatly missed. I’m honored to call him a friend and a true brother. I will love him forever. My prayers are with you and your family.

I’ll see you soon Cole, Miss you

  26. I am so sorry to hear about Cole’s death. I went to Western with Cole and also kept in contact with him through Dana & Kristi. Cole was such a great person and a great friend. He will be missed by so many. He always had such a big smile on his face. I know how much he cared for his fraternity brothers and would have done anything in the world for them. I pray for God to give you strength during this hard time.

  27. I only had the privilege of meeting Cole a couple of times. Cole was a good friend to my late husband, Ron. I am so sorry to hear about Cole. He had such a presence about him, everyone was drawn to him. I remember him as one of the nicest, kind and gentle people I have ever had the privilege of meeting. He will be deeply missed. All of my thoughts and prayers are with you.

  28. Cole was one of my best friends during a tough time in my life in college. He helped me and kept me in line. He worked out with me and I appreciate that. I had always hoped that him and my sister (Angela) would get married.

  29. I used to jokingly call Cole the ‘social chameleon’. I always admired how he could meet anyone from any walk of life and immediately make a friend. His character, honesty, humor and kindness drew people to him and made him stand out as a truly great man.

Every time I saw Cole when visiting Asheville, it felt like I was home.
I am so sad that when I return, I won’t be able to see my friend.

    We will dearly miss him.

My deepest condolences to you Cecil, Dianne, & Alana.

    Love Jesse

  30. Cole was not only my pledge brother in the frat, but a very close friend for the past 9 years of my life. I think about him everyday and all of the great memories we had. My heart goes out to your family and also Nitro. They were both big parts of my college years.

  31. Dear Mr. and Mrs. Edmonds and Alana,
I’ve been a friend of Cole’s since our days at Venable, and while I hadn’t seen Cole in several years, I feel his passing very deeply. I have many fond memories of Cole from my childhood and high school – going out on dates in his little green 2-seater with the top down and the heat on in the winter, going to prom our junior year. We lost touch in college, but reconnected when I was in grad school and he was living in Sylva. In fact, the last time I saw Cole he was living up on the hill with Holly. That night he and I played a knock-down, drag-out game of pool (I’m sure I won :). And at the end of that night he gave me the warmest hug and said ‘Oh, Poo’ (my nickname), and that’s the last time I saw him. I’ll miss him very much, and it just doesn’t seem fair for someone like him to be taken so young. My heart hurts for you and your family. You are in my thoughts.

  32. Cecil, Diane and Alana & Jeff,

We are so very sorry for your loss.

Cole has visited in our home with Kristi and Dana several times and we will always remember his wonderful smiling face. The last time that he was here was when he came to meet little KiLee Jo for the first time. We remember all of them sat around on the porch and had such a wonderful time together.
Please know that each of you are in our prayers.

    Love and Prayers,

Richard, Karen, Scott, Juli and their families

  33. The Edmonds Family,

Our hearts are heavy at this time along with sharing your grief. All the family have been very special to us through the years, having boys in school with Cole, in Boy Scouts, and in Church together.
May faith be your guide through this time of grieving and may it be the source of your strength and the light of each tomorrow. God bless and may you find peace and comfort in this prayer….

Please give us strength and courage, Lord, to bear what we must bear. Nudge us when our faith is weak to remind us you are there. Give us hope for our tomorrows, tell us life will go on. Show us, Lord, that all this darkness will be followed by dawn. You have led us through many things, you’ve pulled us through before. Hold us up, Lord, till we’re through this one and we are strong once more. Amen.

  71. The Edmonds Family
I am really sorry to hear about your son Cole. I knew Cole in college. He was a wonderfulf friend and he will be greatly missed. My heart goes out to your family. Here is a poem I wrote a few years ago and I wanted to share it with your family to try to ease your pain and to comfort.

    Kisses to Heaven

Today I sent a kiss to Heaven
I am encouraging all of you to try
For if I shared this with you
You have had a loved one to die

This kiss came from deep down inside and I know it was truly recieved, right after I sent my kiss A calming breeze surrounded me

Not only that wind, a wind chime rang From where I do not know
But, I felt my loved one smile at me And say that they loved me

Take your kiss within your hands
And look up into the sky
Release that kiss with loving care
Now please try not to cry

Once your kiss is sent off
    To Heaven’s Gate above
Just look for any single sign
    Of your precious love

I felt my kiss returned to me
And yours will do the same
It might not be from breezes or chimes
But in the trees, sun or rain

Now smile up to your loved one
    in the clouds way above
    But most important tell
Your loved one that they are always loved.

  78. To the Edmonds Family,
While I did not know Cole well during college, I was lucky enough to become a part of his life almost 5 years ago. We built a relationship very quickly and have shared many good times since. While I always enjoyed summers at Fontana and winter snow skiing with Cole, I also enjoyed many good conversations. I discovered that one common aspiration we shared was simply to make our families proud. I know that you are proud of Cole. He was a good man. He was honorable, kind hearted and I can honestly say that I am proud to have been his friend.
    I will miss Cole.

  79. Although I have not known Cole for very long, only meeting after college, we took to each other as kindred spirits. I will look back on the times we shared with fond memories. I am saddened for your loss. He was greatly loved and will surely be miss.

I am thankful that you, I & especially Cole lived as those who have hope. For we know that death had no victory in the passing of this physical life to an eternal home. My prayers are with you all, I am sorry that I will not be able to attend the funeral. I want the last thing I remember about Cole to be when we said goodbye to each other, he told me he loved me & gave me a kiss-leaving was one of the hardest things ever. I will love him forever, as he was my first love. He showed me so many new things in life through his love of life. I am very saddened by his passing & your loss & words can not express my condolences. Thank you all for welcoming me into your family, home & hearts. If there is anything that I can do please let me know. And please know making the decision not to attend was a hard one. Words can never express the sadness of losing one so dear! Growing up, I always thought of Cole as one of my ‘other brothers’. Even though lately I only got to see him as he was occasionally passing through the hair salon, I still remember the fun times at Sardis, Venable, Enka, and hanging around the neighborhood. I always had a fondness and respect for Cole. He was a kind and wonderful man! I will truly miss seeing him ‘pop up’ at the shop and flash that great smile. I am praying for you all. I hope you can find comfort in knowing he is in Heaven now, with Gaston, and they are now waiting on all of us! I Love You All!! Lisa

  89. Cole was a very special person, He could always make me smile or laugh at anytime. It was the greatest of honors to be able to call Cole a friend. Cole had alot of friend and family that loved him dearly, As he joins god in heaven, He is not dead because his memory live in all of us!!!!

  90. Cecil, Diane, and Alana’?

I was deeply saddened upon learning of your loss and words can’t adequately express the sorrow that continues to linger in the aftermath. I vividly recall the tremendous love and enormous pride you carried for Cole, quite evident during my 16 years of visiting the ‘shop’?. Not only was it apparent during the times I saw you interact as family, but equally visible as you spoke so affectionately of him in conversation. I know how much you will miss him, but I also know you will remember the many blessings of the beautiful years you shared together. Cole’s wonder-filled eyes and pleasant grin, his compassion and generosity, his decency’? these were but a few of the endearing elements making an original mix that truly sparkled, and the intangible traits that made him a very special person.

Each of us has their own perspective and personal memories of him, and we must all balance the tears of sorrow with the tears of joy, mixing the bitter with the sweet. Beyond the sadness and loss that is now felt, we also must hold a sense of intense privilege and gratitude for having been allowed to share a part of his life. Although what has been lost is tremendous, what he gave us is immeasurable. With emotion in our hearts, and with love that knows no bounds, your family bids farewell to a departed son and brother. But death only ends a life here on earth; death does not end a relationship. He will live forever in all our hearts as we forever remember the gift his life has been.

My prayers, sympathy, and warm thoughts are with you. I pray that God will provide adequate comfort to you.

  91. I have only known Cole for three years now, but I considered him a friend from day one. My husband has always told stories about Cole and has always expressed the value which he held in the friendship between them. He was a great man who had a deep love for life and everyone he knew. There are very few men which were as good with kids as he was, my son always enjoyed his company. Though he has moved on to another part of life, he will never truly be gone because of the knowledge and memories which he gave to us all.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you,
    Rob, Brittany and Tyler Galyan

  92. Cole was a great friend, brother, and all around wonderful person. He brought many smiles and good times to everyone around him, and I cannot express how much he will be missed. Cole was one in a million, and there will never be another like him. My sincere condolences go out to the family.

  94. As a young man, Cole welcomed me to the Bent Creek area with open arms and a smile that only he possessed. As a great High School friend, Cole helped us create teenage memories that will forever be cherished in our hearts. I saw Cole earlier this year, and although we had not seen each other in several years… the smile was the same and so was the man. I am honored to have known Cole, he will truly be missed… but never forgotten.
May God Bless and Comfort You All.

Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.
