Gerald Grohman “Gerry” Hill, 97, of 62 Cranford Road, Malvern Hills, Asheville, died Sunday, May 8, 2005, at Greentree Ridge.
Mr. Hill was a native of Rochester, NY and was a graduate of Syracuse University College of Environmental Science and Forestry. He retired as head of the Inspection Department of Champion Papers after 36 years service. He was a charter member of the Asheville Choral Society and a member of Oak Forest Presbyterian Church. Mr. Hill was married to Ruth Mease Hill, who died in 1995.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence and Carol Hill of Asheville.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Oak Forest Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Timothy W. Meredith officiating. Interment will follow at Crawford Memorial Park in Clyde.
His family will receive friends Tuesday morning at the church one hour prior to the service and suggest that memorials be made to the Presbyterian Home for Children, 80 Lake Eden Road, Black Mountain, NC 28711, or to the Nature Conservancy, 4245 North Fairfax Drive, Suite 100, Arlington, VA 22303.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is in charge of the arrangements.
