Burnice Eugene “Gene” Rogers, 75, of 30 Woodland Drive, Asheville, died Monday, May 2, 2005, at his home. Mr. Rogers was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late Clarence E. and Bertha Roberts Rogers. He was retired as a self-employed auto mechanic and was a member of Community Chapel Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife Daisy Fletcher Rogers; two sons Tommy Rogers and his wife Sherry of Asheville and Bernie Rogers and his wife Michelle of Leicester; four grandchildren, Holly, Matthew, Chan and Amanda; two brothers James B. Rogers and his wife Jeanette of Candler and Harry C. Rogers and his wife Pattie of Asheville, and a number of nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Green Hills Cemetery with the Rev. Robert E. Harris officiating. His family will receive friends rom 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
